Since 1998 we have given more than 2,100 scholarships to U.S. college students to study abroad in Japan.
We are growing and we need your help to fund our future!
Every dollar donated up to $50,000 will be matched by an anonymous donor!
Double your gift! An anonymous donor has generously offered the foundation a matching gift of up to $50,000 for donations raised during our year-end campaign. We need your help to reach this goal!
We provide mentoring, networking, and study abroad scholarships to undergraduates determined to build a Japan-related career.
Our scholars want to build a Japan-related career. Take Jeremy, for example, who studied at Kanazawa University in 2017-2018, as an Amway-Bridging Scholar. A few months ago he shared good news with us: he is one significant step closer to achieving his goal of becoming a foreign service officer having just been selected as a Rangel Graduate Fellow! Jeremy says of his Bridging Scholarship:
“The reason I was able to fulfill my dream is because of people like you who motivated and helped me. I am grateful for all that you’ve done for me.”

Our Engaging, Fast-Paced Webinar Series Have Attracted More than 800 Participants Since October!
The US Japan Bridging Foundation has launched a webinar series to enable U.S. undergraduates and others with a Japan interest to connect with Japan during the pandemic. While the webinars could never replace an in-country experience, they help us pursue the foundation's vision to prepare America’s young people to assume future global leadership roles. The Bridging Foundation webinars examine themes through the lens of the US-Japanese friendship and cross-cultural relationships, but also give attendees practical “how to’s” that affect their lives moving forward.

Tom Mason, our new executive director, brings enormous energy to the foundation and has a many ideas on how to grow the program's influence and impact. “I am delighted to welcome Tom to the Bridging Foundation,” said Thierry Porté, Chairman of the Bridging Foundation’s Board of Directors and Managing Director of J.C. Flowers & Co, an American private equity firm. “As a social entrepreneur, Tom brings a valuable commitment to organizational excellence as we approach a new chapter for the Bridging Foundation. We greatly value his expertise in U.S.-Japan educational exchange as we support future American students studying in Japan.
